Bridges Class – Week 4

We will be at the intersections of Winnebago St., Willy Street, the Yahara, the bike path and a pedestrian path this week.  Since this is an urban river some parts are more heavily impacted by the human environment.

Those Poppies at Willy Street Park

What does the world teach us? Sometimes to be patient.  I have tried to catch the corner of California Poppies that bloom at the Willy Street Park for several years. Between my schedule, the unpredictability of the blooms and the weather, it is tricky.  Apparently the world was not made for me.  At any rate I took a little time early in the morning to photograph and sketch. What I noticed is that the flowers moved from where they were at the start. I think they follow the sun, perhaps that is they they have those long irregular stems.

Week Four – Willy Street Bridge

We will be at the convergence of the Yahara River and Willy Street, where there are actually two bridges, the auto bridge and a rail road bridge converted to bike and pedestrian use.  We are close to Bethany Church, and there is a fun story there.  The train for years went by the church and over the RR bridges just as the pastor was finishing up the message each and every week.
